About the studio...

The Walt Disney Company began in 1923 as the Disney Bros Studio. Shortly thereafter, the studio gave birth to such beloved characters as Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald Duck. Their first animated feature, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” was so successful that Walt was able to make a deposit on some property in Burbank and construction began on this studio facility. Many more animated features were to follow including; “Fantasia,” “Dumbo,” “Cinderella,” “Peter Pan," "Lady and the Tramp," and "101 Dalmatians."

Disney’s expansion into live-action features included such classics as“Mary Poppins, ”The Love Bug,” “Polyanna,” “Old Yeller,” and “The Absent-Minded Professor” to name a few.

Some television series filmed here have included “Dragnet” and “The Mickey Mouse Club.” More recently, cameras have rolled on “Home Improvement” and soon Jason Alexander (“Seinfeld”) will be taping his new sitcom, “Bob Patterson” here.

You'll notice when you are on the Disney lot that the street names are named after Disney characters, ex. Goofy Lane. The imposing administrative building at the studio entrance depicts the Seven Dwarfs 'shouldering" the building facade.
